Polycarboxylate superplasticizer, as a new type of high-efficiency water reducer, has many advantages. Firstly, it can significantly improve the workability of concrete, making it easier to mix and pour. Secondly, polycarboxylate superplasticizer can effectively reduce the water-cement ratio, thereby enhancing the strength and durability of concrete. Moreover, compared to traditional water reducers, it has better compatibility with cement and aggregates, maintaining efficient water reduction over a wider range.

Polycarboxylate superplasticizer is a high-efficiency water reducer. When added at a dosage of about 1.0%, it can significantly increase the water reduction rate of mortar, exceeding 35%.
It can notably improve both the early and long-term strength of mortar. Early strength can be increased by more than 50%, while the 28-day strength can be improved by more than 30%.
Mortar with added polycarboxylate superplasticizer shows better durability, including improved resistance to sulfate attack, alkali-aggregate reaction, frost resistance, shrinkage, and creep
In cement-based decorative mortars, polycarboxylate superplasticizer can significantly reduce the initial and secondary efflorescence areas. When the dosage exceeds 0.6%, efflorescence can be nearly eliminated.
Polycarboxylate superplasticizer is an environmentally friendly product with very low levels of alkali content, chloride ions, sodium sulfate, and formaldehyde. It does not produce pollution during production, meeting environmental standards.
It can improve the fluidity of mortar, increase the early and later strength of the mortar material, while also reducing shrinkage and enhancing workability.
In summary, the application of polycarboxylate superplasticizer in mortar not only enhances its physical and mechanical properties but also improves its durability and environmental compatibility, making it a high-performance concrete admixture.
Compared to traditional naphthalene-based and lignosulfonate-based water reducers, polycarboxylate superplasticizer is more expensive. Additionally, it has certain requirements for construction conditions; factors such as temperature and humidity can affect its performance. Furthermore, in some specific mix proportions, over-dispersion may occur, leading to reduced viscosity of the concrete and impacting construction operations. Therefore, its dosage must be reasonably adjusted during use.
