Product Introduction

  1. Molecular Composition and Structure:
    The formula:(CH3CHCOOCH3)-X (CH2CHOH)-Y
    Where (X+Y) represents the degree of polymerization, and(Y/(X+Y) represents the degree of alcoholysis.
  2. Physical Properties:
    Appearance: White flake, granular or powdered solid (low alkali alcoholysis process) or white flocculent solid (high alkali alcoholysis process).
  3. Chemical Properties:
    PVA structure is -[CH2CH(OH)]n-, where n indicates the average degree of polymerization. The basic properties of PVA are determined by its average polymerization and alcoholysis degree, but the presence of over ten irregular structures in PVA molecules significantly affects its properties.
  • Water Solubility:PVA molecules, containing numerous hydroxyl groups, dissolve easily in water. Solubility increases with water temperature; it only swells in cold water (low alcoholysis products slowly dissolve in room temperature water) and completely dissolves in hot water, forming solutions with excellent film-forming and adhesive properties.
  • Thermal Stability:The product softens when heated, with no significant change below 40°C. Long-term heating above 160°C gradually causes discoloration, and decomposition occurs above 220°C, producing water, acetic acid, acetaldehyde, and butyraldehyde.
  • Chemical Resistance:This series of products is almost unaffected by weak acids, weak bases, or organic solvents, and has high oil resistance.
  • Storage Stability:This series has good stability; it can be stored long-term in a naturally dry state without mold, spoilage, or moisture absorption.
  • Environmental Friendliness: PVA is a high polymer with secondary hydroxyl groups. The secondary hydroxyl groups in the PVA molecule are highly reactive and can undergo typical low molecular weight alcohol reactions such as esterification, etherification, and acetal reactions, as well as react with many inorganic and organic compounds. It is harmless to humans and animals, biodegradable, and known as a green product.

Binding agent

Increasing the viscosity of binding agents and forming a thin film on the dispersed body of the binding agent; used for bonding industrial ceramics such as silicon carbide and silicon nitride, as well as bonding paper. 

Pharmaceuticals

Emulsifiers and dispersants for ointments, acting as a shrinkage and coating agent in tablets.
